Nothing relieves stress better than a good travel destination far from the maddening ennui of daily life. There is a world of scintillating entertainment and several ‘must see’ places on offer. Here is a quick ‘flyby’.
Best American Entertainment
For Americans, the best bet is to explore the world of entertainment in America first and Hollywood would be a natural starting point. This manna of World Cinema is a sure magnet for tourists the world over. The various theme parks of Disney World provide wholesome entertainment to the young and old alike. After that, hop on a flight to New York City and head to Broadway. There’s nothing like a mega dose of contemporary theatre.
Off to London, then Paris
Flying across the Atlantic (go by cruise liner for those nautically inclined), a short stop in London to watch a show at the Royal Albert Hall, London is a must. Thereon, take a train or a ferry to France and Paris beckons with its vibrant theatre, arts and fashion houses. The clubs of Moulin Rouge and Lido are a permanent fixture in any tourist’s entertainment itinerary while in Paris.
Ski the Slopes of Switzerland
Skiing in the Alps of Switzerland is a sheer joy. The sound of silence amidst alpine beauty is a sure shot ‘Zen’ moment. The rest of Europe has many tourist destinations, but they are too ‘touristy’ to be really entertaining.
Soar to Egypt and Cruise the Nile
A flight to the Middle East would take an intrepid tourist to Egypt where other than the Pyramids and Cairo museum, watching a sensuous belly dance while on a cruise down the river Nile offers a surreal experience.
A Wild Adventure in Africa
A short haul away to the Dark Continent offers endless exciting safaris and then stop by at Durban, South Africa to watch the famous Zulu dance.
From the African Continent, on a flight en-route to India, a stop over at Seychelles is a must. This island-nation has some of the most beautiful beaches and yes, some the most beautiful women swaying to the beat of the sensuous Sega.
Enjoy true Diversity in India
Fly across from Seychelles to the land of extremely diverse entertainment – India. Here, watch dance forms such as Bharat Natyam, Kathak, or jam away to catchy Bollywood numbers in Mumbai, the city which makes the largest number of movies per year in the world. Visit the rustic charm of the deserts of Rajasthan where entertainment comes in various forms starting with an exciting journey on the ‘Palace on Wheels’ to the ‘Pushkar’ fair and of course the beaches of Goa, the hippie paradise.
Shop-a-holic’s Dream in Singapore
Moving further east, if shopping is entertainment for a shop-a-holic tourist, Singapore is the destination. While still in South East Asia one cannot miss the number one tourist destination – Bali, Indonesia where everything from traditional Balinese dances to the best of western style entertainment is on offer.
Enjoy Asia, the World's Cultural Icon
Swing north through China and the Great Wall and Tiananmen Square are awe inspiring. Further north lies the great fatherland of Russia whose chief cultural icon, the Russian Bolshevik Theatre in Moscow is a treat to watch.
Best Water Adventure in Australia
One cannot possibly miss out Australia for its Great Barrier Reef and yes Sky Diving for those who have a habit of throwing themselves out of planes.
This short flyby of the ‘must see’ places is sure to whet jaded appetites and is thus recommended to chase away the blues.
